Looking For Hourly Paid Work?

New College Stamford is seeking new members to join our Board of Governors. These appointments are on a voluntary basis.

We would like to hear from those people who are keen to help shape education and employability in the Stamford and surrounding area.
A Governor role could be for you if you:New College Stamford Governors

  • have experience in business or the community
  • can constructively challenge the status quo
  • are able to support the management team and staff to develop the full potential of young people and adults and to strive for excellence in everything they do.

If you already have expertise gained within the education, IT and marketing / communications sectors this would be particularly advantageous.

Support and training for Board Members will be provided to help you understand the education sector and the position of New College Stamford within it. Successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) application.

In May 2011 New College Stamford had a week long Ofsted inspection. The Inspectors had this to say about the College:


“New College Stamford remains a good college. It has managed its growth in learner numbers successfully while maintaining high levels of learner achievement”.


The main findings were:

  • A high proportion of learners are successful
  • Standards of learners’ work are good
  • Learners feel exceptionally safe
  • Teaching and Learning are good
  • The range of provision, including extra-curricular activity, is broad. Courses offered are responsive to local priorities and learners’ needs
  • Opportunities for progression are good with many learners successfully achieving places in HE, FE or full time employment
  • Partnership with local schools and communities is good
  • Care, guidance and support are outstanding
  • Diversity is widely celebrated and learners demonstrate a good awareness and appreciation of other equality strands including others’ cultures and beliefs
  • Safeguarding arrangements are good.

Investors in People

In February 2013 the College was re-accredited with the Investors in People Bronze Award and is still recognised as a Work Life Balance organisation. In March 2013 we were also re-accredited with Healthy FE status and we place great emphasis on ensuring we run a college where positive wellbeing is the expectation for all.

We are a college that values its partnership between staff, students and the community. The students are encouraged to voice their thoughts and opinions on the running of the College through the ‘Learner Voice’ mechanism; staff have a similar opportunity for involvement through ‘Staff Liaison’ and we hold regular meetings involving the local community.
