Last week, Brickwork students competed in the Guild of Bricklayers competition at Cambridge Regional College, taking home both 2nd and 3rd place victories!
The Guild of Bricklayers teamed up with Cambridge Regional College to host a bricklaying craft competition for the Eastern region, a national event which promotes and maintains the highest standards of craftsmanship in brickwork.
Lewis Senior was awarded 2nd place in the senior competition and Henry Ball achieved 3rd place in the junior competition, after showcasing their outstanding talents and abilities.
Nationally, the Guild organises ten regional competitions throughout the UK, in the search for the best young bricklayers who will compete in the Guild’s National Finals, to be hosted in Derbyshire next month (June).
Not only is the competition the perfect opportunity for students to put their creative abilities to the test, it also encourages levels of motivation and competitiveness.
The Guild of Bricklayers National Final is a major event and a true representation of the UK’s vocational skills and abilities. Being presented opportunities to enter into competitions like this highlights the dedication of the students here at New College Stamford and gives them the chance to forge links with the industry.
