Second year Level 3 childcare students recently visited Willoughby School in Bourne and are now inspired to raise funds for a new therapeutic bed for the school.
Chloe Townsend, Layla Rafik, Amber Easterbrook, Gabriella Fatica, Paula Blundy and Hollie Hedges spent the day at the school and were touched by the close-knit community that encompasses the staff and children.
The dedication of the staff and head teacher enables each and every child to have the greatest chance of learning, ensuring that their individual needs are met in a comfortable and safe environment.
During their visit, childcare students noticed that the school was equipped with just one therapeutic bed. These beds allow the children to learn in comfortable surroundings, free from any pain. The school are in need of three of these beds to benefit the children and ensure that they are receiving the care that they wholeheartedly deserve.
The students have set up a Just Giving page and are looking into the possibility of hosting a charity concert with one of their music teachers to raise money for this cause.
“The money we raise for a therapeutic bed will support the children drastically. It will mean that they will be more willing to learn as they feel safe, happy and comfortable. So the children will be able to fulfil their lives and be the best that they can, especially those who have life-limiting conditions”- Gabriella Fatica, student.
