Develop your interest and enthusiasm for Earth science and develop a toolkit of geological skills including hands-on geology and field work. The course is designed to inspire a love of geology by providing a dynamic, contemporary and exciting opportunity for students to engage with the dynamic Earth.

You will study:

  • Petrology and Economic Geology
  • Basin Analysis

This course is 80% exams and 20% coursework.

You will develop confidence in selecting, using and evaluating a range of quantitative and qualitative skills and approaches including: observing, collecting and analysing geo-located field data, and investigation, mathematical and problem solving skills.

Progress to study degrees in Geology, Energy or Mining, Geochemistry, Palaeontology or Planetary Science.

APS 42* and 5 GCSEs at grades 5/C or above including English, maths and a science at grades 6/B or above.
