Complete services and repairs on light vehicles such as cars and vans, working in either a dealership that focuses on a particular manufacturer, or for an independent garage that deals with varied makes of vehicles. You will work on all systems found within the vehicle, replace simple parts, solve complex faults using diagnostic methods and equipment, and demonstrate experience in the technical side of your role.

This course is 80% theory and 20% practical.

On completion, you will be able to progress into the motor vehicle industry in roles such as a Motor Vehicle Technician or Motor Vehicle Service Advisor. You could also progress to university to study degrees such as Engineering.

Some attendance at the college may be required and an Assessor will also visit you in the workplace to carry out practical assessments and monitor your progress.

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically require 5 GSCEs at grades 4/C or above including English and maths.
