This course will provide you with the key skills and understanding to prepare you for careers working with children between birth and 5 years, gaining further knowledge of children up to 7 years of age.

You will learn about the role of an Early Years Practitioner, working in partnership, safeguarding and the benefits of play. You will undertakea minimum of 250 hours within work placement in nursery or primary school settings to broaden your knowledge and experience in the Early Years sector.

This course is approximately 70% theory and 30% practical.

 

You will learn through a wide variety of learning methods including written assessment, professional discussion, presentations and group and practical activities.

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the Early Years, Childcare and Education Extended Diploma Level 3, or enter the world of work as a Nursery Assistant. You could also progress on to the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Level 3.

The majority of the assessment is completed through on-going assessment.

Students will need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate ‘with no grounds that a student is professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement’.

Application for a DBS is managed by the College and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this before you are due to start your course.

4 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above including English and maths.
