Develop your professional and specialist skills in hairdressing or barbering to become a Lead or a Senior Stylist, through the study of creativity and development of advanced hairdressing or barbering skills. As a Lead or Senior Stylist, you will be responsible for customer satisfaction and maintaining a high clientele for the business.

You may also need to study Functional Skills Maths and English Level 2, Personal Learning and Thinking skills (PLTS) and Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) units to successfully complete your training.

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. You will have a workplace mentor, typically a senior stylist with several years experience who may well be the salon owner or manager. You will attend college for classes as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

As a fully competent Lead or Senior Stylist in a Hairdresser’s or Barber Shop, you can further your progression by undertaking additional qualifications or opening your own salon.

Some attendance at the college may be required and an Assessor will also visit you in the workplace to carry out practical assessments and monitor your progress.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Hair Professional Stylist.
