Work as part of a team providing high quality and compassionate care to individuals. You will carry out well-defined routine clinical duties such as monitoring individuals’ conditions and checking on their overal progress, comfort and well-being. You will prepare individuals for healthcare activities and provide care for them before, during and/or after those activities in line with their care plan. You will be able to address straightforward problems in your day-to-day work, reporting concerns and changing to the appropriate person in a timely manner.

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responcible for your training and welfare at work. You will attend college for workshop sessions as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

As a fully competent Healthcare Support Worker, you can progress to the Health and Social Care Apprenticeship Level 3, or to job roles such as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker.

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically required 5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above includng English and maths.
