Develop your passion for food and produce dishes that delight customers as a Senior Chef. You’ll have the ability to work independently and lead a team, working quickly an defficiently to produce food in high volumes, building on your methodical and organisation skills. You will also gain an understanding of food preparation and cooking, knife selection and handling, traditional and modern cuisine, taste, diet and nutrition to produce dishes and menus that meet business and customer requirements.

This course is approximately 80% work and 20% training.

 

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. It is anticiapted that the head chef will be resposible for your training in the workplace.You will attend college for classes as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

On completion, you will be fully competent as a Senior Chef. You could also progress to a higher position within the sector or further training.

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically require 5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above including English and maths.
