This course will develop your knowledge and awareness of health, social care and childcare. You will learn about the principles and values, communication, working in partnership, importance of play and healthy eating to support well-being and development.

This course is approximately 60% theory and 40% practical.

You will be required to complete a minimum of 30 hours work experience to support your studies.

There are wide variety of learning methods including written assessment, professional discussion, presentations and group and practical activities.

This course will give you the opportunity to gain insight into to the industry before marking decision about career progression. After successful completion of this course you can progress to the Health and Social Care Extended Diploma Level 2, or the Working with Children in Early Years and Primary SettingsCertificate Level 2.

You will be assessed by ongoing assessment throughout your course.

Students will need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate ‘with no grounds that a student is professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement’.

Application for a DBS is managed by the College and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this before you are due to start your course.

No formal qualifications are required, but an interview is necessary where should demonstrate your desire to work in either the early years, or health and social care sector.
