Become a qualified plumber or domestic engineer through gaining the advanced technical and practical skills you need for a career in the plumbing industry.

You will explore how to:

  • Plan and design central heating systems
  • The principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
  • Cold and hot water systems
  • Domestic sanitation system installation

You will be required to undertake 1 week work experience on a construction site, in a workshop or in a construction related field. You will also be expected to take part in community projects.

This course is approximately 85% theory and 15% practical.

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment at University Centre Stamford or other Construction and Engineering degrees at university. You could also enter job roles such as a Bathroom Fitter or a Self-employed Plumber, or continue to work towards careers as a Plumbing and Heating, Drainage or Gas Engineer.

You will be formatively assessed on each unit through phase tests and assignments; however, final assessment is through an on-line exam and practical assignment

You will require a uniform consisting of steel toe capped boots and overalls which can be purchased from our website. During your interview you will also sit an online suitability assessment. The result of this, plus your previous academic achievements and maturity will determine the level of course you are offered.

Plumbing Technical Certificate Level 2 or relevant industry experience.
