Specialise your skills in massage with this alternative route in to the beauty industry. You will gain experience by providing treatments to paying clients in our on-site salon. You will develop your massaging expertise to include, Swedish massage, stone therapy and Indian head massage.

You will have the opportunity to take part in a number of trips, activities and competitions throughout the year. Previous trips and visits include: Salon International, The Clothes Show, Goldwell Academy London, Steiner Cruise Ships Careers Event, and a number of local employer masterclasses. You will also showcase your new skills in our Annual Fashion Show.

This course is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical.

You will learn through practical demonstrations and practice what you have learnt on real, paying clients in our commercial salon and structured work experience.

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to careers in commercial salons, destination spas or work for hotel chains, cruise ships or airlines. You could also further your studies with a Level 4 qualification in Salon Management, Holistic Therapy or Advanced Beauty Therapy at University.

Practical assessments will be completed throughout your course as you provide treatments to clients and produce a portfolio of evidence. You will also be assessed through an external exam, graded synoptic test, a treatment portfolio.

Candidates wishing to pursue a career in this industry should be of smart appearance, reliable, articulate and of a caring nature with good communications skills. -You will be required to purchase a beauty uniform and a kit; this is mandatory requirement within the first six weeks to enable you to complete this course. You will be notified about the contents and the suppliers of both the kit and uniform during the Inspire information day. It is imperative that you plan ahead as you will be expected to source your own clients to enable you to complete your practical assessments.

A relevant Level 2 Beauty Therapy Diplomaor equivalent.

You will study a range of units including:

• Health and safety in the salon

• Client care and consultation

• History and origins of massage therapies

• Swedish massage

• Stone therapy

• Indian head massage

• Anatomy and Physiology for the face and body systems

• Promote and see products and services

• Contribute to the effective running of a business
