Work within a range of establishments, for example, bars, restaurants, cafes, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. Your role will be varied with the option to specialise in areas of hospitality including: alcoholic beverages, barista, food and guest services, reception, reservations, and conference and banqueting.

This course is approximately 80% work and 20% training.

 

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. You will have a workplace mentor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work (in this instance a senior chef). You will attend college for classes as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

On completion, you will be fully competent as a Commis Chef and able to progress to the Senior Chef Production Apprenticeship Level 3.

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically require 5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above including English and maths.
