New College Stamford is the first FE College in Lincolnshire to be directly licensed to run the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The Duke of Edinburgh Award (commonly abbreviated DofE), is a youth awards programme founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, that has since expanded to 144 nations. The awards recognise adolescents and young adults for completing a series of self-improvement exercises.

We currently have 23 students enrolled on the bronze award across Public Services and A-levels and next academic year we hope to roll the program out to other curriculum areas.

Students are undertaking a range of activities towards their award including sports activities, volunteering in the community and developing individual skills. The DofE is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 to 24-year-olds the opportunity to be the very best they can be and we are really pleased to now offer this as part of our student experience at New College Stamford.
