| Beyond the Classroom |
|
New College Stamford is more than just an ordinary college. We offer an impressive range of "Beyond the Classroom" activities that allow our young people to develop both as learners but also as well-rounded, confident young people who are able to contribute positively to the community in which they live and work.
Significant opportunities exist for students to get involved in music, dance and drama through the Studio Theatre Club and a new Film Club. Our Sports Academies allow students to develop their sporting skills in a professional coaching environment, whilst opportunities also exist to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, the Army Cadets and foreign exchange visits to Norway.
Students compete in national and international skills competitions, particularly in areas such as Hair Design and Beauty Therapy. We have an enviable record of success in competitions such as these and encourage all of our students to get involved.
Students are also encouraged to develop commercial skills that will help them to prepare for the challenging world of work. Extensive work experience and work placements programmes are supported by a range of activities that are undertaken by students during Enterprise Week. We work closely with local businesses and organisations such as the Stamford Chamber of Trade and Commerce www.stamfordchamber.co.uk to ensure that we identify the needs of the local commuity and provide a complete education and training solution. |
