The Learning Centre - the Heart of the College

An impressive Learning centre takes pride of place at the heart of New College Stamford. A continually expanding collection of resources including books, periodicals, journals and magazines is increasingly complemented by a growing collection of e-resources that students can access from any of the PCs in the College.

As part of the expansion of the Learning Centre this year the College opened its new "Open Access" IT suite that provides drop in facilities for learners to conduct research or the chance to complete homework. The Open Access area is staffed all day and so expert help is always on hand if students need it.

State of the art multimedia suites are also available for our IT and Creative Arts students. High specification PCs and Macs provide students with all the technologies the need to succeed in their chosen specialist area.

New College Stamford is committed to providing the very best for learners and so, despite the current excellent facilities already available, significant investment in the Learning Centre continues.

Exciting development work is currently being undertaken at the College to create a new Virtual Learning Environment. Students and lecturers will be able to access this online facility both at College and through the internet. Students will be able to access homework assignments, read lecture notes view video clips of lessons and submit assignments online. Discussion forums will also be available to allow learners to discuss homework topics or assignments online.

New College Stamford is committed to helping students to become independent learners capable of managing their own studies and personal development. An outstanding Learning Centre plays a key role in this journey and we continue to work hard to ensure that all students have access to the resources and information they need in a format that suits them.
