| Supporting Learning - a Helping Hand |
|
New College Stamford is committed to helping all students to "become whatever they are able to be". New beginnings can be daunting but at New College Stamford we are here to support and encourage all students to help them make a smooth transition from school.
All our students are allocated a personal Learning Mentor when they first enroll at College. The Learning Mentors meet once a week with their students as a group and regularly on a one to one basis with students for tutorial sessions. As well as providing advice and guidance with planning homework activities and discussing student's general progress, the Learning Mentors are also able to help with any other concerns that students may have setline in to life at College. A key role of the Learning Mentor is also to help all students to compile their Individual Learning Plan. This plan encourages students to focus on what they want to achieve, and helps them to identify the education and training pathway that they want to follow. Whether this pathway is towards further study at College or University, to employment or to work-based learning, then New College Stamford can provide support to ensure that it happens.
