New College Stamford’s talented hair and media make-up students worked their magic working behind the scenes in a local fashion show at the Crown Hotel in Stamford.
The level 3 students did the hair and make-up on all of the catwalk models inspired by 4 different looks; walk in the country, faux fur, Christmas party and Christmas day. The fashion show helped raise money for local charity, Three Counties Dog Rescue and so the made-up models walked down the catwalk with rescue dogs from the charity in a row.
Students also helped with the fundraising by harnessing their customer service skills to sell nail varnishes and candles. In total the students raised an amazing £125 towards the cause.
The event gave hair and media make up students an invaluable experience to work in a real life environment whilst having fun, learning and developing their skills on the way.
Lisa Hassine, Beauty Therapy Lecturer, said “We had a very positive response from all those involved and increased of awareness regarding the college and what we have to offer our students”.
These real opportunities and working with clients gives our students that extra edge and experience when applying for a job within the hair and beauty industry. On campus hair, beauty and media make up students have access to a newly refurbished hair and beauty centre, including a spa, steam room and sauna, providing them with the facilities to train and gain a rounded experience in preparation for future work after qualifying.
