New College’s Stamford first LGBT+ Student Network Event was a huge success. The event brought LGBT+ communities from other colleges and organisations together so students in Lincolnshire can connect with other young LGBT Students from local Colleges and to gain access support and get the opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers in their local area.

LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.

Ben Petts from Enlighten UK was our first speaker, who came in to run a workshop with the Students. We aim to hold a network event once a term and rotate the venue between local colleges, the next is due to be held at Grantham College in the spring term!

Our Safeguarding Officer, Jessica Dennett says, ‘We have a strong and supportive LGBT+ Community here at New College Stamford. We have a friendly and inclusive environment where students have the opportunity to create new friendships, access support and engage in social and charity events!’

If you’re starting college this year and want to learn about all of the extra opportunities available to you as a student or if you have any questions about our LGBT+ community.
