Department overview

Our independent skills centre provides a discrete and highly-effective provision for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, offering first-class education delivered by dedicated teams of specialist and experienced staff.

Students study in our two specially adapted houses with newly built classrooms, a large greenhouse, a small outdoor sports area, gardens and a chicken run, where they gain the opportunity to engage in a range of learning to develop their independence and vocational work skills. Students can also start with, or progress to, Pathways where they attend classes in the main College environment preparing them for mainstream courses.

It has been an honour working with Ben. The dedication within himself has led to excellent results! - Rob Bradshaw, Posh Football Ground.

Learners who have high needs make good progress in programmes specially designed for them, and those who participate in other courses progress in line with their peers.

I love coming to New College Stamford, I have made a lot of friends, grown in confidence, and gained real life work experience!
