What can this course lead to?

This course is designed for progression on to the T Level in Early Years and Education to enable students to attain Early Years Educator Status. Upon successful completion of the Foundation T Level you can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years practitioner and work under supervision in a variety of roles such as: Nursery Practitioner Classroom Assistant Pre-school Practitioner

Who is it for?

The Foundation T Level will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age with applied knowledge in the early years. This qualifications content meets the Department of Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.

What is covered?

You will study the following units: Roles and Responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner Health and Safety of Babies and Young Children in the Early Years Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Practice in Early Years Settings Safeguarding, Protection and Welfare of Babies and Young Children in Early Years Settings Understand how to support children's development Support care routines for Babies and Young Children Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programme Promote play in an Early Years Setting Support Wellbeing of Babies and Young Children for Healthy Lifestyles Support Babies and Young Children to be Physically Active Support the needs of Babies and Young Children with Special Educational Needs and Disability Promote Positive Behaviour in Early Years Settings Partnership working in the Early Years. The entry requirements are 4 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above, including English and maths. You will also be required to complete a minimum of 250 hours work experience to support your studies. You will need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds you are professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement.
