Who is it for?

Explore visual language, research skills, project proposal and realisation and build your critical and contextual awareness through a series of live projects. Every computer throughout the college has the latest Adobe Creative Suite software, allowing you to develop technical skills on industry standard technology as well as access to a range of traditional media including the print room.

What is covered?

Unit 1: The Creative Process - This unit dives into the creative process, exploring its stages and how they work together. Through projects and workshops, students will learn to identify and apply these skills to develop creative outputs, all set within the context of the creative industries. Unit 2: Developing Creative Practice - Students will learn about different creative practices, materials and techniques (2D, 3D, 4D). They'll experiment and develop practical skills while learning safe use of these skills for creative problem-solving and presentation. Unit 3: Responding to a Set Brief - Students apply all their learned skills to respond to a real-world creative brief. This involves proposal development, idea generation, project execution, presentation, and reflection on the entire process. 5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above including English and maths, and an arts-based subject at grade 6/B or above. Alternatively a Merit in a relevant Level 2 Diploma, and a GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths, or a pass for functional skills Level 2 English and Maths. A Merit in your first year is required to enter the second year Extended Diploma.
