On successful completion of this course you can progress onto the Animal Care Diploma Level 2 or employment in the industry through an apprenticeship or work .

Who is it for?
This practical course is for you if you want to develop your understanding of the land-based industry. You will learn how to assist with maintaining the health, well-being and accommodation of animals, including feeding, watering and handling.
What is covered?
Modules include: Being Organised, Developing a Personal Progression Plan, Care and Feeding, Moving and Accommodating, Maintain the Health of Animals, Digital Skills, Employability Skills and Introduction to Biology. Please note that modules are subject to change. Awarding body for 25/26 TBC.

No formal entry requirements are required, just a desire to work with animals and be interested in land based activities. We will review each application on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suitable for you.
You will learn through a combination of theory and practical-based learning including written assessments, group discussions, presentations and practical handling of a variety of species.
The majority of the assessment is completed through ongoing assessment and practical handling of a variety of species. There are no formal exams, but there are written assignments.
There are hands-on practical elements to this course and steel toe capped boots and sensible clothing is required, including a Stamford college tunic which is available to purchase from our website. These are essential and must be worn whilst working on the Animal Studies Unit. Additionally, all jewellery, piercings and false nails must be removed during practical sessions and long hair tied back.
