Who is it for?

The Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of the condition and the challenges and strengths that autistic people may experience. More than 1 in every 100 people in the UK have an autism diagnosis. You will learn about characteristics, diagnosis and how understanding and different theories surrounding autism have developed over time. Within this qualification, the term ‘autism’ is used as an umbrella term for all autistic spectrum conditions, including Asperger syndrome.

What is covered?

To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners must successfully complete 6 mandatory units.

  • Unit 02 Positive Behavioural Support for Individuals with Autism
  • Unit 03 Understand Support and Management of Transitions for Individuals with Autism

You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the current academic year to be able to enrol on one of our Distance Learning courses.

You will also need to be working at or above Level 1 in English.

We will assess your level of English before we enrol you onto the course and can signpost you to our Functional Skills English courses to upskill if necessary.
