On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery Diploma Level 3 or to job roles such as an Apprentice Site Carpenter, Trainee Carpenter or Trainee Joiner. Dependent on your ability, you may continue your studies with the Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment with a view to progressing to university or into managerial apprenticeship.

Who is it for?
This course has been designed to develop your practical skills and knowledge through real training in industry standard working environments. You will learn how to carry out second fixing and structural carcassing operations, whilst gaining an understanding of construction technology, information, quantities and communication. You will also learn and apply the principles of health and safety.

- 201 Principles of building
- 202 Structural carpentry
- 203 Non-Structural carpentry prior to plastering
- 204 Non-Structural carpentry following plastering
- 205 Timber technology and the use of circular saw.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effective ‘6 weeks to success programme’ that operates from the first day you start your course. This includes support such as (but not limited to):
· Allowing you to change courses if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks -subject to availability
· Moving you between course levels if you are finding your current level too easy / too hard, subject to availability
· One-to-one reviews with your academic tutor to ensure you are progressing and achieving well

You will complete work books and assignments using online resources. You will also take part in a Construction work placement which will give you on-site experience alongside opportunities to complete relevant community projects with Stamford College.
You will complete a theory exam and a practical synoptic assignment. As well as a mandatory employer placement. You will receive regular feedback on your performance and help and advice to enable you to be successful in the actual assessments.
You will require a uniform consisitng of black full length work trousers, black polo shirt and black sweatshirts and safety footwear for the workshop, which can be purchased on our website, along with a change of footwear when leaving the workshop. You will also need course specific text books and stationery. You will be sent a full list of materials and equipment prior to enrolment.
