This two year programme is for those who want to work in the health and fitness industry in roles such as a gym instructor or personal trainer. The Level 3 National Diploma in Sport, Fitness and Personal Training is equivalent in size to two A levels and provides the knowledge and develops skills required for professional accreditation with CIMSPA (Chartered Institute of Management for Sport and Physical Activity) as a Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer.

4 GCSEs grade 4 and above including English GCSE. English is essential for the written part of the course. There are a number of reports such as client feedback forms which need to be written and therefore English is essential. Those who do not achieve English can start on the level 2 Sport programme, and progress to level 3 the following year.
The Diploma in Sport, Fitness and Personal Training offers a mix of learning activities – including practical gym work not only in the gym at Borderville Sports Centre but also at our partner gym, Rhinos. There are a number of classroom-based lessons covering theory such as Anatomy and Physiology alongside a full programme of trips and visits into industry. A work experience week allows for learners to find a placement in their local community and develop their knowledge of the industry further.
The Sport, Fitness and Personal Training course is 100% coursework assessed. This includes videos, written reports, presentations, observations and demonstrations. There are no exams on this course.
Personal Trainer Uniform required (cost between £100 and £140 depending on the package purchased) £100 per year trips and visits fee to include ALL trips and visits associated with the course.
