Successful completion of this course accrues UCAS points and a number of major UK universities accept T Levels meaning you could progress to further study in subjects such as: networking, software development, games design, computer science, big data analytics, cyber security, social media and business. Due to the high-level academic nature of the T-Level and the considerable industry placement element you will also have the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to successfully progress directly in to specialist area of design and surveying, or you can progress on to an Apprenticeship or higher level study. This course is for students who want to develop programming skills in multiple languages including:

You will gain experience using industry standard development environments, techniques and source code management platforms which will equip you to face real world programming challenges. Investigating different software design methodologies, modelling approaches and project management tools will allow you to build the skills needed for your own software development projects. You will learn about the value of digital technology and gain an understanding of customer and commercial needs. Discussions about the ethical and moral issues raised by the increasing reliance on technology and automation and the importance of legal requirements will form part of your studies. All that you learn will then be put to practical use on your industrial placement, where you will be supported throughout by your tutors and mentors to apply what you have learnt to your job role. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore emerging technology trends and innovations such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, Augmented Reality (AR), Blockchain and 3D printing. This technical study programme is an attractive alternative to A Levels and apprenticeships and is designed in consultation with employers, professional bodies and higher-education providers to give you the industry skills you need in order to start your career within the digital industry.

This specialist course will also allow you to enhance your broader skills in literacy and numeracy, develop transferable skills in communication (working with real colleagues, customers and clients) and undertake research and live project development work. Whilst engaging with specialist tutors, support staff and work placements co-ordinators, you will also be required to complete an industry placement of at least 315 hours – providing the much needed real-world experience needed for this industry.

5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above, including a 5/C or above in GCSE English Language and Maths. Or a merit in a Level 2 qualification plus GCSE grades 5/C or above in maths and English.
In the first year you will be expected to complete two paper-based exams. In the second year, you will complete an employer-based coursework assessment: Core components will be assessed through a project set by employers from within the industry and two externally-set tests. Occupational specialisms will be assessed through a defined project that is created in conjunction with relevant employers and supported by specialist tutors on programme.
Your T Level will include an industry placement with an employer to develop the practical and technical skills required for the occupation. We will support you in finding relevant work placements but you must demonstrate willingness to travel to your work placements. These will last a minimum of 315 hours (around 45 days). Employers can offer industry placements as a block, day release or a combination of the two.
You will have the opportunity to take part in many trips to inspire your creativity. Former students visits to Insomnia Gaming Festival at the NEC in Birmingham as part of this course.
