Our Tutors and Safety Officers have implemented plans that are specific to your area of study.

What works for a catering learning space will be different to a construction workshop, or a computing classroom. But please be assured that every effort has been made to ensure that you can learn in a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Timetables have been reviewed and redesigned, and break times alongside your arrival and departure has been staggered to ease congestion in communal areas and entrances to buildings.

Tutors will adapt teaching styles and delivery methods to ensure that your education and experience remains of the highest quality possible and stays safe. This means that you will encounter a variety of lessons including some practical workshops, face to face in a socially distanced group, live streamed sessions online and pre-recorded demonstrations and exercises that you can confidently achieve remotely at home through Google Education and Google Meet.

Whether you are learning on site on online, you will always have access to your Tutors and Student Advisors during learning hours.

Coming to College in September - Everything you need to know

Following the Government’s guidance that all schools and colleges should re-open from September and, as long as there are no new lockdown measures introduced, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to Stamford College from September.

Students have always been at the heart of what we do at Stamford. We want our new and returning students to be confident that our campuses are safe places to study. Whether you're joining us as a new student or returning from your summer break to continue your studies, we want you to have all the information you need to prepare for learning at Stamford this Autumn.

We want to ensure that your Stamford experience is as positive, exciting and enjoyable as possible as you embark on the next phase of your life. COVID-19 has encouraged us to review our practices and, as a result, to take the opportunity to find new ways to enhance your learning experience.

From September our aim is to provide an on-campus learning experience with teaching delivered through a mixture of face-to-face and online sessions. Therefore, you will not be required to attend college every day and will also complete some of your study from home.

Due to Covid 19 and new ways of operating it will be more important than ever that students have access to either a Tablet, Chrome, laptops, PC or Mac, these will be needed for online learning and will be essential to ensure you can engage and make the required progress. As part of the pre enrolment process you will have highlighted to us the technology and internet access you currently have available to you. If you already have your own computer, laptop, etc we will help you to set this up with all the required software for your specific course for classroom and online learning, this will include specialist software. Arrangements to access this will be made by your course leaders.

We are developing a Mobile Technology Scheme for those who meet the requirements for financial help, providing you with the right technology for your course. We are also able to loan some equipment out to students if needed, on receipt of a deposit. A lease scheme will also be available for students wishing to purchase a device. Because of the pandemic, and the huge increase in demand for devices this summer it is expected that the equipment will be available at the end of the first term. Further details on the various Mobile Technology Schemes will be published during your first term.

At all times we will be following the latest government guidance on the on-going pandemic and its implications for education. All students will be expected to follow the new changes to ensure their safety and the safety of other fellow students and staff.

Your health, safety and well-being are our number one priority so a lot of hard work has gone into getting our campuses ready. We’ve put a number of safety and social distancing measures in place to provide a safe and compliant environment and minimise any risk to students, apprentices and staff. Find out more about how we’ll keep you safe by reading our 'Keeping you safe at College Guide'.

We understand some students will be worried or anxious about returning to college and we hope that you feel reassured by the measures the college have implemented to provide a safe working environment enabling you to return to college as safely as possible.

We looking forward to seeing you soon.

Kind regards,

Sarah Young
