Theory into Practice: Antonia McDevitt’s Industry Placement Success
Antonia McDevitt, Level 2 Childcare student of Stamford College, part of Inspire Education Group, has received high praise from her industry placement employer, The Children’s Garden Nursery in Stamford.
Spending two days per week undertaking vital work experience, Antonia assists in the daily care routines of children, including feeding, enrichment and recreational activities. “The real-life experience is so valuable to my learning, helping me to put the theory I learn in College into practice!”, Antonia shared. “It’s lovely to watch the children smile as they walk through the door. Watching them progress in their development is so rewarding”.
At Stamford College, all students are expected to undertake work experience as part of their study programmes, instilling key practical skills and enhancing their employability prospects. “Our relationship with Inspire Education Group is really positive”, Nursery Manager, Joanne Goldsmith shared. “Offering placements is the perfect way to invest in the future generation of early years educators. Not only do these students offer an extra pair of hands, but we can also nurture their skills towards the requirements of future full-time employment opportunities”.
“Antonia is doing so well”, Joanne continued. “The teachers have been very complimentary of how she uses her initiative to support the team and the children. She is dependable and nothing is ever too much trouble. Antonia would be an asset to any nursery in her future career”.
When asked what advice she would give to fellow students considering an industry placement, Antonia shared, “I’d recommend it to anyone! Both my tutors at College and the staff at the nursery are so friendly and approachable – I’ve learnt so much from their experience and expertise. My time at The Children Garden Nursery has really solidified for me that I want to be a nursery teacher full-time”.
Inspire Education Group wishes Antonia the best of luck in her future endeavours.
