Course overview

Work as part of a team providing front line care for vulnerable adults. To work in care is to make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. Adult Care Workers need to have the right values and behaviours developing competences and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support. They are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives which is at the heart of person centred are. Job roles are varied an determined by and relevant to the type of the services being provided and the person supported. Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings.

 

What Does The Programme Include

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week.

You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work. You will attend college for workshop sessions as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically required 5 GCSEs at grades 4/​C or above includng English and maths.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

Potential Future Career

As a fully competent adult care worker, you can progress to the Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Level 3, or to job roles such as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker.
