Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2

You will com­plete projects/​assign­ments and home­work tasks to broad­en your knowl­edge and under­stand­ing in all aspects of Beau­ty Therapy.

Ini­tial­ly you will devel­op your prac­ti­cal skills by prac­tic­ing treat­ments on oth­er ther­a­pists with­in your group. You will be expect­ed to receive all treat­ments whilst you are learn­ing and devel­op­ing new skills.

Even­tu­al­ly you will progress onto pub­lic salon ses­sions where­by you will be per­form­ing a vari­ety of pro­fes­sion­al treat­ments on the gen­er­al pub­lic with­in a real salon envi­ron­ment, prepar­ing you for Lev­el 3 beau­ty and fur­ther­more uni­ver­si­ty or industry.

Addi­tion­al beau­ty train­ing is avail­able to you, depend­ing on the trends in indus­try for the year. E.g Gel pol­ish or ear pierc­ing etc.

4 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above, includ­ing Eng­lish, maths and sci­ence, or a rel­e­vant Lev­el 1 qual­i­fi­ca­tion. <?xml:namespace pre­fix = ​“o” ns = ​“urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

We will review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive ​‘6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as :

• Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑sub­ject to availability
• Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard ‑sub­ject to availability
• Incor­po­rat­ing Eng­lish and maths GCSE resits in to your timetable if you don’t achieve grade 4. 
• One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

Prac­ti­cal assess­ments will be com­plet­ed through­out your course as you pro­vide treat­ments to clients and pro­duce a port­fo­lio of evi­dence. You will also be assessed through sev­er­al exter­nal exams whilst com­pil­ing a treat­ment portfolio.

Can­di­dates wish­ing to pur­sue a career in this indus­try should be of smart appear­ance, reli­able, artic­u­late and of a car­ing nature with good com­mu­ni­ca­tions skills. You will be required to pur­chase a beau­ty uni­form and a kit. We will noti­fy you about the con­tents and the sup­pli­ers of both the kit and uni­form pri­or to enrol­ment. It is imper­a­tive that you plan ahead as you will be expect­ed to source your own clients to enable you to com­plete your prac­ti­cal assessments.

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to progress to Lev­el 3 sub­ject to per­for­mance cri­te­ria and a suc­cess­ful inter­view or alter­na­tive­ly you could progress with­in the industry.

You will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to take part in a num­ber of trips, activ­i­ties and com­peti­tons through­out the year. Pre­vi­ous trips and vis­its include: Rag­dale Hall (Stu­dent of Excel­lence), Beau­ty UK, Stein­er Cruise Ships Careers Event, and a num­ber of local employ­er mas­ter­class­es. You will also show­case your new skills in our annu­al fash­ion show. One weeks work expe­ri­ence is a manda­to­ry ele­ment of this qual­i­fi­ca­tion, you are expect­ed to secure your own place­ment with­in the first four weeks of the course.
