Course overview

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. 

Business adminstrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilties. The responsibilities of the role are to support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with interanl and external customers. With a focus on adding value, the role of business administrator contributes to the effciency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues as requested. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills. 

The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities effciently and with integrity- showing a postive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adpoting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

 

What Does The Programme Include

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week.

You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work. You will attend college for workshop sessions as required. There is a mandatory requirement for 20% off the job training that will be agreed with the employer.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically require 5 GCSEs at grades 4/​C or above including English and maths. 

How The Course Will Be Assessed

An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

Additional Information

Where a business administrator has not already achieved Level 2 English and maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

Potential Future Career

As a fully competent Business Administrator, you could progress to the HND in Business at University Centre Stamford or various Business degrees at university or a number of careers in the industry. 

Course Content

Apprentices will need to complete the criteria within the Assessment Plan for Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours.

Skills- What is required? Advancing key skills to support progression to management.

Knowledge- What is required? In-depth knowledge of organisation and wider business environment.

Behaviours- What is required? Role-model behaviours and positive contribution to culture.
