Course overview

You will play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. You will support the early education and care of young children in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools and child minding. You will help to ensure that children’s learning and care are tailored to meet their individual needs, engaging and supporting parents/​carers in guiding their child’s development at home and helping families engage more specialist support if appropriate.

 

What Does The Programme Include

You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week.

You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responcible for your training and welfare at work. You will attend college for workshop sessions as required. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will typically require 5 GCSEs at grades 4/​C or above including English and maths. 

How The Course Will Be Assessed

Potential Future Career

As a fully competent Early Years Educator you could progress to various Early Years or Education degrees at university, or enter employment with progression to roles such as an Early Years Teacher.
