Course overview
Master your expertise in electrical installation and gain an understanding of testing and inspecting to a professional standard. You will study the design of electrical systems, electrical regulations, testing, inspecting and fault finding in our industry standard workshops.
You will also learn to apply the principles of health and safety and develop your employability, maths and English skills.
What Does The Programme Include
You will complete work books and assignments using online resources. You will begin to demonstrate independent learning skills and continue your professional development with a Construction work placement. Throughout this course you will also have the opportunity to complete many community projects, preparing you for work in the industry with on-site experience. You can undertake the project and workskills programme to gain UCAS points to study at HNC/Degree level.
Entry Requirements
Electrical Installation Technical Certificate Level 2 or equivalent, plus GCSE grades 4/C in English and maths or relevant industry experience.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effective ‘6 weeks to success programme’ that operates from the first day you start your course. This includes support such as (but not limited to):
· Allowing you to change courses if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑subject to availability
· Moving you between course levels if you are finding your current level too easy / too hard, subject to availability
· One-to-one reviews with your academic tutor to ensure you are progressing and achieving well

How The Course Will Be Assessed
You will complete practical assessments at your own speed ending the year with a practical timed assessment. Theory assessment will be completed through online tests. The course is summative assessed by a practical assignment and final on-line test.
Additional Information
You will require a warehouse coat, work trousers and laced safety footwear, which can be purchased on our website, along with reference books and stationery. You will be sent a full list of materials and equipment prior to enrolment.
Potential Future Career
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to Construction or Electrical Power Engineering degrees at university. You could also progress to job roles such as an Installation Electrician or Maintenance Electrician Apprentice, or you could undertake a Construction Maintenance Apprenticeship.
