Course overview

The course is a one-year study pro­gramme con­sist­ing of a range of units aimed to help devel­op your per­son­al and pro­fes­sion­al skills and abilities. 

It is designed to sup­port and pre­pare you to progress into sev­er­al areas whether that be a Lev­el 2 course (such as IT or Busi­ness for exam­ple), an appren­tice­ship or employ­ment. The course will help you devel­op per­son­al skills along­side maths, Eng­lish and a range of others.

 

What Does The Pro­gramme Include

Lessons will include prac­ti­cal activ­i­ties, sem­i­nars and tutor led dis­cus­sions. You will also have reg­u­lar Aca­d­e­m­ic Tuto­ri­als which are one to ones with your course co-ordinator.

Entry Require­ments

No for­mal qual­i­fi­ca­tions are required for entry onto the but an inter­view is nec­es­sary. If suc­cess­ful at inter­view you will be enrolled on to this course as well as GCSE maths and English.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed via a vari­ety of meth­ods over the year, these assess­ments will take place through­out the year and will be designed chal­lenge you in dif­fer­ent ways and allow you to show­case your knowl­edge and abil­i­ties. The assess­ments on the course are all pass/​fail.

Poten­tial Future Career

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you can progress onto a range of Lev­el 2 Cours­es includ­ing IT, Busi­ness, Cre­ative Media or Trav­el and Tourism). You could also con­sid­er Busi­ness Admin­is­tra­tion, Cus­tomer Ser­vice, IT, and Retail Appren­tice­ships, or enter employment.

You will need to pass this course to progress on to a Lev­el 2 course.

Course Con­tent

The units on the course cov­er a range of areas such as com­mu­ni­ca­tion, prob­lem solv­ing, per­son­al finance man­age­ment, look­ing towards employ­ment and pro­gres­sion oppor­tu­ni­ties as well as prepar­ing you for those and cul­mi­nates with a larg­er can­di­date project with which you have a choice in what you would like to base that project around.
