GCSE Maths

Course overview

Maths and English skills are essential for life and work. If you are aged over 19 and do not already hold an English or maths GCSE grade 4/C, you can study for your GCSE qualification at New College Stamford.

Courses are run on a part-time basis, on Thursdays from 6:00pm‑8:00pm to fit around your life and work.

During the course you will upskill in all the necessary areas and topics needed to achieve a Grade 4/C in GCSE maths including understanding fractions, decimals and percentages, equations and pie charts.

What Does The Programme Include

Our friendly and dedicated tutors will work alongside you covering topics such as geometry, statistics and algebra. You will also be given practice exam papers to allow you to build your confidence before taking you final assessments in the summer.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that you have a current grade 3/D in Maths, with the aim to improve to a grade 4/C. This qualification is exam based and centred around developing your skills so you can develop to the next level.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will undertake exams in late May or early June.

Additional Information

There is a full fee remission for the GCSE qualification for students aged 19+. Please contact financial support on 01780 4840300 ext. 344 or email financial.support@stamford.ac.uk for more information.

Potential Future Career

We are frequently told by our students that they wished they had secured better grades in their GCSEs as many employers and most universities required at least a Grade C before you can progress. Undertaking this course will allow you to secure qualifications that alongside further courses could help you gain a promotion, further qualifications or even achieve a place at university.
