Hairdressing Diploma Level 1

You will learn through prac­ti­cal demon­stra­tions and prac­tise what you have learnt on real, pay­ing clients in our com­mer­cial salon.

There are no GCSE/​formal entry require­ments for this course. We will how­ev­er review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.<?xml:namespace pre­fix = ​“o” ns = ​“urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive ​‘6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):

• Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑sub­ject to availability
• Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard — sub­ject to availability
• Enrolling you on a GCSE or Func­tion­al Skills maths and Eng­lish pro­gramme along­side you main course
• One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

You will be assessed through prac­ti­cal obser­va­tions, online tests and ques­tions. You will also com­plete assign­ments to devel­op your the­o­ry knowledge.

After suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you could progress onto the Hair­dress­ing Diplo­ma Lev­el 2 or could con­sid­er a Hair Pro­fes­sion­al Apprenticeship.

You will study the fol­low­ing units:

• Styling and dress­ing hair
• Cus­tomer service
• Con­sul­ta­tion
• Sham­poo­ing and conditioning
• Health and Safety
• Assist with colouring

There maybe oppor­tu­ni­ties to vis­it Salon Inter­na­tion­al at Lon­don’s Excel where you can check out the lat­est devel­op­ments, get your hands-on new prod­ucts and see live demon­stra­tions.

You may also have the chance to get involved in com­pe­ti­tions such as the AHT (Asso­ci­a­tion of Hair­dressers & Ther­a­pists) Awards where the Col­lege have an envi­able rep­u­ta­tion for suc­cess, reg­u­lar­ly achiev­ing top places in the nation­al finals across mul­ti­ple categories.
