Course overview
Develop your professional and specialist skills in hairdressing through the study of advanced cutting and colouring techniques including creative styling and dressing, advanced perming, creative colouring and colour correction. You will gain practical experience in our on-site commercial salon and develop your hair design portfolio working on catwalks, fashion shoots and competitons.
What Does The Programme Include
You will perform a range of hairdressing services in a realistic working salon environment. You will learn through live practical demonstrations, research and small group-based activities.
Entry Requirements
You will require a Hairdressing Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Mature students may offer experience in a salon as an alternative to formal qualifications.
Students at this level will also be expected to obtain a relevant industry placement 2 days a week, to support their progress on the course.

We will review each application on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suitable for you.
One of the ways we do this is through a very effective ‘6 weeks to success programme’ that operates from the first day you start your course. This includes support such as (but not limited to):
- Allowing you to change courses if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks
- Moving you between course levels if you are finding your current level too easy / too hard
- Incorporating English and maths GCSE resits in to your timetable if you don’t meet the grades you need
- One-to-one reviews with your academic tutor to ensure you are progressing and achieving well

How The Course Will Be Assessed
The majority of your assessment will be through practical observation. You will complete online tests, assignments and a portfolio of evidence to assess your knowledge and understanding of Hairdressing.
Additional Information
You will require a “top up” hairdressing kit and uniform. Details will provided to you prior to enrolment.
Potential Future Career
Students on this course excel in competitions, source excellent and rewarding placements, and as a result have great reputations for success and progression in to the industry.
On successful completion of this course, you could progress to careers such as a Hair Stylist, Hair Colourist or as a Technical Representative. You could also further your studies with a HND in Salon Management at university.
