What Does The Programme Include

This competence-based qualification is designed to be assessed by the candiates workplace as they undertake their normal work role. The evidence must at all times reflect the policies and procedures of the workplace as informed by current legislation, the relevant service standards and codes of practice for the sector. The majority of assessment for this qualification will take place in the workplace under real work conditions, using observations by a qualified assessor and/​or testimony from an expert witness, work products etc. All the identified assessment criteria must be evidenced and a holistic approach to assessment is encouraged.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements ti access this course, however you will need to be employed in a relevant role within the Health and Social Care sector.

Additional Information

In addition to direct observations, you will need to complete and pass a number of written assignments to achieve this qualification.

Potential Future Career

On successful completion of this course you can progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care or specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which you work.

Course Content

You can choose between the Generic Pathway or the Dementia Pathway.

The mandatory units are:

  • Principles for implementing and duty of care
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection
  • The role of a health and social care worker
  • Promote person centred approaches
  • Promote and implement health and safety
  • Promote good practice in handling information
