Course overview

Achieve a highly specialist work-related qualification and gain the knowledge, understanding and skills you need to enter the health and social care sector. You will study: effective communication, equality, diversity and rights, anatomy and physiology, human growth development, working in health and social care and reflective practice. There will also be the opportunity to use your skills in a real-life work experience placement. You will be required to complete 75 hours work experience as part of this course. We recommendation of 100 hours will further support your studies and progression in to the Health and Social Care sector. This course is 60% theory and 40% practical work.

 

What Does The Programme Include

There are wide variety of learning methods including written assessment, professional discussion, presentations and group and practical activities.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grades C/​4 or above, including English, maths and science at grades C/​4 or above. Health and Social Care Level 2 qualification at Distinction, with 3 GCSEs at grades 4/​C or above, including English, maths and science at grades.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

The majority of assessment will be completed through written tasks. Although there are externally marked assessments you will not have to take any exams as part of this course.

Additional Information

You will require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds that a student is professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement’. We will contact you with more details on how to apply for this once you have been offered a place on your course. If you are studying at Level 3 you will also have an additional cost for a t-shirt/uniform and educational visits.

Potential Future Career

After successful completion of this course you can progress on to various Health and Social Care related degrees at University or careers such as Nursing, Social Work, Therapy and Family Support.
