Course overview

This course has been designed to provide you with a broad introduction to the business sector and develop basic skills such as; communication, working with others, problem solving, managing information and self development. You will develop transferable skills and understanding through; organising a meeting, branding a product, creating a visual display, contributing to running an event, recording income and expenditure and presenting a business idea.

 

What Does The Programme Include

A variety of assessment methods will be used during your course including practical tasks, group work and the opportunity to take part in industry visits to support your course.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required, but an interview is necessary where you will display a desire to work in either the IT or computing sector.

Whatever your results, we want to assure you that extenuating circumstances will be considered should you not have the grades indicated above. 

We will review each application on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suitable for you.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effective 6 weeks to success programme’ that operates from the first day you start your course. This includes support such as (but not limited to):

  • Allowing you to change courses if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks
  • Moving you between course levels if you are finding your current level too easy /​too hard
  • Incorporating English and maths GCSE resits in to your timetable if you don’t meet the grades you need
  • One-to-one reviews with your academic tutor to ensure you are progressing and achieveing well

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will complete a series of assignments and course work such as presentations, practical, reports, leaflets and guidebooks.

Potential Future Career

On successful completion of this course, you can progress on to the Information and Creative Technology Certificate Level 2, or other Level 2 qualifications in Business, Creative Media, or Tourism and Tourism. You could also consider Business Administration, Customer Service, IT, and Retail Apprenticeships, or enter employment.
