Introduction to Counselling Skills Level 2

Course overview

This is a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification for anyone interested in a career in counselling, support workers, customer service staff and new managers/​team leaders. You will gain an awareness of a range of counselling skills and how to use them through interactive practical exercises.

It is designed to provide education and training for those who may use counselling skills when working with others. This can be in any field which involves interacting with other people – from customer services, nurses to managers. It is useful for a wide variety of people. It gives opportunities for those who may use counselling skills when working with others to achieve a nationally-recognised, Level 2, vocationally-specific qualification. It will also help you to enter employment in fields working with people or to progress to further vocational qualifications such as the Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 3. The course will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills you need as an introduction to counselling skills. It gives you opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor.

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 1pm to 3pm or 5.30pm to 8.30pm

Cost: £500


What Does The Programme Include

You will learn through a combination of independent and group activites including lecturers, seminars, trips, visits and work-related experiences.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required, simply an interest in the subject. The Introduction to Counselling Level 1 qualification or equivalent experience is recommended but not essential.

Classroom activities, assignments and personal journal/​diary.

Additional Information

This Level 2 course does not qualify you to practice as a Counsellor. However, people on this course have developed their careers in;

Potential Future Career

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to the EDEXCEL Certificate in Counselling Skills and Theory Level 3 course. You may also wish to apply for employment in a related field.
