Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles Diploma Level 1

You will learn both in the class­room, with the­o­ry based dis­cus­sion’s, mul­ti­me­dia pre­sen­ta­tions and work­sheets and hands on prac­ti­cal learn­ing with guid­ed car chas­sis com­po­nent and engine dis­man­tling and rebuilds in our brand new Auto­mo­tive Skills Cen­tre. All mate­ri­als used to sup­port you in your stud­ies are also made avail­able via the internet.

3 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above includ­ing Eng­lish, maths and sci­ence or the Vehi­cle Tech­nol­o­gy Entry Lev­el Diploma.

The major­i­ty of appli­cants enrol on this Lev­el 1 course, how­ev­er your hands on expe­ri­ence and pre­vi­ous aca­d­e­m­ic achieve­ments may deter­mine the lev­el of course you are offered.

We will there­fore review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive ​‘6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):

• Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks — sub­ject to course availability

• Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard sub­ject to course availability

• Incor­po­rat­ing Eng­lish and maths GCSE resits in to your timetable if you don’t pass at Grade 4

• One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

You will receive reg­u­lar feed­back in order to help you fur­ther devel­op your skills and pre­pare you for the assess­ments which con­sist of a series of prac­ti­cal assess­ments, writ­ten assess­ments and online tests.

You will require a uni­form con­sist­ing of steel toe capped boots and over­alls which can be pur­chased direct­ly from our web­site. The result of this, plus your pre­vi­ous aca­d­e­m­ic achieve­ments and matu­ri­ty will deter­mine the lev­el of course you are offered.

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you can progress to the Lev­el 2 Diplo­ma in Light Vehi­cle Main­te­nance and Repair, or the Lev­el 2 Diplo­ma in Motor Sport Vehi­cle Main­te­nance and Repair. You may also apply to a Motor Vehi­cle Main­te­nance and Repair Apprenticeship.

• Vehi­cle wheels and tyres con­struc­tion and maintenance 
• Vehi­cle exhaust sys­tems com­po­nents and maintenance 
• Intro­duc­tion to low car­bon tech­nolo­gies in the auto­mo­tive industry
