Practical Vs Theory
This course is designed for people looking to work in the music industry as a performer. You will gain an understanding of rehearsal skills, solo music performance and group performance, music production, basic recording skills and the music business to develop your skills as a self-employed musician/freelancer. To give you a real experience of the current UK music industry you will have the opportunity to visit venues such as Rock City, BBC Radio, Rutland Radio, local gigs and festivals such as The Willow Festival and Stamford Willows Festival.
You will also meet a variety of professionals from the music industry and visit different music trade shows such as BPM and PLAZA to inspire your artistic development.
You will study the following units:
- Using a keyboard with a DAW
- Live music performance
- Session musician
- Planning for a career and getting work in music
- Life sound recording
- Music rehearsal skills
- Music improvisation
- Radio and podcast production
The facilities are great and have opened the doors to the music industry for our band — Among the Citizens. We have had the opportunity to take part in live gigs and have appeared on BBC Introducing.
