Course overview

This Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools CACHE Diploma provides an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required for working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. It covers all aspects of Specialist Support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual and special needs support and personal development and reflective practice.

The course is assessed entirely in the workplace so there is no need for you to attend College. Unless however you do not already hold a grade C in GCSE English and/​or maths in which case we would require you to attend these classes at the College

 

What Does The Programme Include

You will have access to an E‑portfolio where tasks are set on online. You will have the programme delivered in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

You must be 16 years and over. You must be employed or volunteer in an Early Years setting. You will also require at least 1 GCSE in either English or Maths at grade c or above.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will need to show competence in a real work environment through observations, oral questions and written work for successful completion of this course.

Potential Future Career

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress to study:

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA),
  • a Foundation Degree or Teaching Degree (QTS).

Course Content

There are 11 Mandatory Units and a choice of optional units.

Units include:

  • Schools as an organisation,
  • Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour,
  • Understand child and young person development.
