Course overview

Gain an intro­duc­tion to the world of trav­el and tourism through the study of cus­tomer ser­vice, Respon­si­ble Tourism, Spe­cial­ist Tourism, mar­ket­ing, retail, hos­pi­tal­i­ty oper­a­tions, Euro­pean des­ti­na­tions, UK des­ti­na­tions and the busi­ness behind trav­el and tourism. In year two, you will spe­cialise in cab­in crew and have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to vis­it an air­line train­ing cen­tre to expe­ri­ence real cab­in crew train­ing. You will also learn the basic back­ground knowl­edge, skills and under­stand­ing of cab­in crew in our own onsite air­craft cab­in Stam­ford Airways’.


What Does The Pro­gramme Include

You will learn through the­o­ry based study prac­ti­cal demon­stra­tions, pre­sen­ta­tions, group work and indi­vid­ual tasks. There will also be some exam based units. You will also expe­ri­ence a range of indus­try and edu­ca­tion­al vis­its to broad­en your knowl­edge of the trav­el and tourism industry.

Entry Require­ments

5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above includ­ing Eng­lish and maths.

What­ev­er your results, we want to assure you that exten­u­at­ing cir­cum­stances will be con­sid­ered should you not have the grades indi­cat­ed above. 

We will review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive 6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):

  • Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks
  • Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard
  • Incor­po­rat­ing Eng­lish and maths GCSE resits in to your timetable if you don’t meet the grades you need
  • One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through inter­nal­ly assessed assign­ments and exter­nal­ly assessed tasks and inter­nal­ly assessed assign­ments. You can utilise your port­fo­lio to take to Uni­ver­si­ty or to take to job inter­views to show case your abil­i­ties. There will also be prac­ti­cal tasks, group work and indi­vid­ual presentations.

Addi­tion­al Information

All stu­dents will be required to buy a uni­form for Cab­in Crew. They will also be expect­ed to par­tic­i­pate in some of the edu­ca­tion­al vis­its which you will be required to fund them­selves (approx. cost for vis­its is £150 per year with the option of an over­seas vis­it in year two at an addi­tion­al cost)

Poten­tial Future Career

On the suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course you can progress to uni­ver­si­ty or job roles such as an Over­seas Resort Rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Trav­el Agent or Air­line Cab­in Crew.
