A New Kind of Student Awards for 2020

Despite the challenges this year has presented our students have continued to achieve success and we were not going to let them walk away without celebrating their incredible achievements.

This year’s Student Awards ceremony took a slightly different approach to the usual evening ceremony. The college utilised the power of social media with staff recording their own personal videos congratulating their winners on their achievements throughout the year from home.

The annual ceremony which is usually hosted at Borderville Sports Centre is a celebration of student’s outstanding commitment not only to college life, but also, to their students and personal achievements over the past year.

Students were both nominated and voted for by the staff that know them best in categories including Entry Level, Level 1,2 and 3 Awards for Excellence, Apprentice of the Year, Maths and English Awards for Excellence, Volunteer of the Year, Work Experience of the Year and The Enterprise Award, University Centre Stamford Student of the Year.

This year, there have been two additional awards in memory of two very special members of staff The Liz Paige Award and Lisa Hassine Award.

Hair and Media Make Up Student Niamh Craddock who also won the Level 3 Award for Excellence was crowned Student of the Year 2020 with the following citation,

“Niamh, you have faced every challenge given to you with a positive attitude and pure determination. Your personal growth and development has been astonishing, from a very shy and quiet Level 2 student, to a talented and confident individual who is actively working towards a career in this ever changing industry.

Competing at the Association of Hairdressing and Therapist Awards you created a beautiful, authentic 1980s look and went above and beyond in your research and development of the era.
