Known by his students as a ‘legend’ and ‘an absolute banter king’, Sport Lecturer, Justin Osborne has completed his 20th year within the Sport Department.
Justin actually studied his GNVQ Level 2 and 3 Sport Diploma at the New College Stamford himself before getting his first job as a Sports Technician at just 18 years old.
Now he teaches students who were once walking in the same footsteps as he was years ago. He said, “I’ve not yet taught a child of one of my former students but I imagine that could well be just around the corner. That will be the moment when I will feel really old!”
When asked what his most memorable moment was during the last 20 years at college Justin said, “There’s just too many! Moving to Borderville Sports Centre, winning leagues, an unbeaten football tour in Costa Brava in 2005, and working with charities such as Anna’s Hope to mention a few.”
Justin has always endeavoured to help local charities. He met Carol Hughes Founder of Anna’s Hope charity 10 years ago and each and every year, together, they have worked to fundraise thousands for the charity. He also regularly takes part in the Great Northern Run and can often be seen wearing a ridiculous and heavy outfit to complete the half marathon.
He said, “II love football and having the opportunity to pass on my passion to young people and help the local community make working here a dream.”
Loved by staff and students, here’s to another 20 more years!
