Stamford College Hosts Construction & Engineering Skills Career Event, in partnership with South Lincolnshire Group Training Association

15 March 2024

Nurturing the skillset of tomorrow’s workforce, Stamford College, further education provider of Inspire Education Group (IEG), hosted a Construction & Engineering Skills Career Event for local school students, in partnership with South Lincolnshire Group Training Association.

Hundreds of students from King Edward Academy, Ambergate Sports College, Catmose College, Stamford Welland Academy, Corby Business Academy, The Deepings School and Earlsfield Youth Centre, enjoyed a wide variety of hands-on activities, from clay sculpting, earth structures and brickwork, to plumbing, tiling and electrical.

Each activity was kindly supported by a local industry provider. Inspire Education Group thanks the representatives of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Crowley Associates, Essential Site Skills, George Barnsdale, National Grid Network Services, Daniel Charles Construction, Millstone Heritage Training, VINCI Building, Integrated Health Projects of Vinci Construction UK, Mick George, Inspire2Ignite, and Keymer UK of Wienerberger, for sharing your invaluable expertise. A special thank you also goes to Topps Tiles of Stamford, for generously sponsoring the tiling activity and providing resources for future classes.

Thank you to Andy Richards, Construction Director of Allison Homes Central Region, for attending the event and in turn witnessing the incredible opportunities afforded to local young people by the property developer’s sponsorship of the Modern Methods of Construction Centre.

Emma Hill, Head of Faculty for Technical and Modern Construction Skills at Stamford College, said, “Once again, the Construction & Engineering Skills Career Event was an exciting and engaging day, supported by employers from across the region. It provided pupils with hands on activities for a real-life experience of the Construction and Engineering industry. Thank you also to our College students who assisted at the event as Student Ambassadors, ensuring everyone had a positive experience.”

This gratitude was emulated by Steve Taylor, Group Training Manager for South Lincolnshire Group Training Association, who said, “These free-to-attend events are a great example of what effective working relationships can achieve. We have received fantastic support, sponsorship and goodwill from micro-businesses, through to large employers, and of course further education providers and training companies. We have once again provided an excellent experience for school children within our region”.

Inspire Education Group thanks all those involved in the smooth running of the event. To learn more about Construction courses at Stamford College, click here.
