What can this course lead to?
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at adult learners who are looking to gain a recognised qualification in Beauty Therapy. It has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in eyelash and brow treatments, applying make-up, and skincare.
What is covered?
You will have the opportunity to choose from the following practical units:
- Removing hair using waxing
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- Application of tanning techniques
- Instruction on make-up application
- Removing hair using alternatives to wax such as threading or sugaring
- Eyelash lifting
- Ear piercing
- Creative skill of nail art
Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

No GCSEs or previous formal qualifications are required. Applicants should have a good understanding of English and a genuine passion to pursue a career within the beauty industry.
The course will be delivered within our realistic working environment beauty salons, providing you with the opportunity to develop your skills in a professional and practical setting. You will take part in practical lessons where you will practise and develop a range of beauty therapy techniques, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience.Students will have classes every Friday from 9:00am – 16.00pm.
Assessment will take place throughout the course and will include both practical and written tasks. Practical assessments will be carried out in college during practical lessons. You will also be assessed through several external exams whilst compiling a treatment portfolio.
You will be required to purchase a beauty uniform and a kit. We will notify you about the contents and the suppliers of both the kit and uniform prior to enrolment.
You are encouraged to seek employment or work opportunities within the beauty industry while completing your qualification. Gaining experience in the workplace alongside your studies can be highly beneficial, helping you to enhance your practical skills, build confidence, gain valuable industry experience, and apply the knowledge and skills developed throughout the course in a real working environment.
